Except when she chewed up a pen that Salihah left in the floor (heh, Lena is teaching her not to leave her stuff in the floor hahaha). Looking forward to obedience classes with her. His foster mom Heidi says: "His new family is SO EXCELLENT.We had a visit early this morning and I had only been home about 10 minutes when they called to let me know that he had stolen their hearts. When I took him back to their home this evening he raced right up to their front door like he knew it was his home. When we went in to fill out the paperwork he trotted over to Steve (new dad)and sat at his feet completely ignoring me! I don't think Foose even walked us to the door because he was off with his new kid Kieran. I couldn't even manage to be sad to see him go(and we were really seriously considering adoption!)as it was such a great match." |

We managed to snap this one in time for our Christmas cards. Chief is definitely feeling at home with us and should be sainted for the amount of patience he has with the boys. The neighbor kids are certainly enjoying him, too. He is doing well in his training sessions and is becoming a much more "polite" dog. John and I are happy to have him in the family now. After the kids are all in bed you can usually find one of us laying on the floor with Chief as we watch TV. All in all I think Chief was the right match for our family. Betty now Neenah8/1/04: Didn't even make it to the adoption page but is now called Neenah. She is living in Dadeville, AL. Her new mom says, "She is settling in nicely. She spent some time looking the house over, and tested me on chairs and beds. If I said "Down" or "Off" she got right down. She knows what a padded dog bed is for, we had one in the living room with us and she went right into it. Rather than put her in a crate the first night, I put a dog bed next to our bed and she curled up and slept like she belonged there. My husband and Neenah are in love and she's following him all over. She and I have had lots of hugs and kisses. She's a keeper for sure. She's playing with toys, she's looking out of windows at the lake and knows what "go outside" means when we take her. She has been showing us some of her tricks like "shake hands", "sit" and "down" and her favorite is "sit." Boy, can she "sit"! This adoption process was so amazing and Cindee and her family have shown real concern and love for this animal. She sure has a big heart. I feel very blessed for having found you folks, and especially for our finding Neenah. Thanks to all from Tom and Sharon and Neenah." |

She gets to go to work with me (I am a nanny) and play with the kids, who adore her. The younger boy asked me the other day if he and his sister could have her for a "whole day", so I told him maybe if I go out of town she can stay with them but otherwise I would miss her too much. At work, there is also a 2 year old golden retriever from another rescue organization who is a good friend of hers. They play and wrestle as much as I let them.. I take them apart at intervals to rest and so they don't get tired of each other. She has also made friends with her boxer sister, who takes care of my boyfriend's grandma, and Zella, a dobermin mix who belongs to one of my friends. Colby now Moby5/2/04: Is with his new mom in Anniston, AL. This was a perfect placement and the feel good story of the year :) Colby was placed 2 years ago through another rescue with an elderly lady that had had boxers forever. She was set on having another boxer so Colby went to live with her and they were a beautiful match. Colby was as big as his new mom but she didn't mind if he sat in her lap :) She cooked him breakfast every morning and they shared a wonderful time together. She recently got sick and passed away so Colby needed a new home. The day I found out about Colby's mom, I had a phone call from a friend saying that she was ready for her big dog and wanted a boxer. The catch.... her elderly mother lives with her and she would have to have a boxer that wouldn't jump up on her. I told her I had just the boy for her.
